Thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise was stolen from a ransacked Atlanta EZ-Mart on Thursday morning.
Police responded to a reported burglary in the 1500 block of Northside Drive just after 9 a.m. The ATM was cut open and emptied along with the cash register and slot machines, totaling approximately $3,800, according to Atlanta police.
In addition to cash, police said the burglar(s) took around $8,000 in cigarettes. The security surveillance hard drive was also taken.
The suspect or suspects reportedly broke in by knocking a hole through the back brick wall, cutting alarm and monitoring system wires, police said.
The store was robbed in the same way 10 months ago, and police believe the suspect(s) knew what to do to disarm the system.
