Police release video of carjacking suspect, hope for ID

Atlanta police are looking for a two people who reportedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint at Centennial Olympic Apartments on Monday evening. Authorities released surveillance video of one of the suspects Thursday.

A woman had just arrived at the apartment complex Monday when she was forced at gunpoint to give the suspects all of her things, including her car keys, according to the incident report. The two reportedly drove away in her car, and she and a witness called the police.

The gray Subaru Imprezza has since been recovered and the two people driving the car — Randal Cofield, 21, and a minor — were arrested, police said, but they were not the ones who stole the vehicle. Both were charged with obstruction of officers, and Cofield was additionally charged with theft by receiving stolen property and not having a driver’s license.

The two people who stole the vehicle, a man along with a partner, are still at large and police have released a video of one of the suspects going through a drive-thru. They request the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call 404-577-TIPS (8477) or text CSA and the tip to CRIMES (274637).
